On Saturday January 30, my mother died peacefully.
It seems she had a massive stroke and when we found her on Friday morning, she was already in a unresponsive. We transferred her to hospital, where she received only care and comfort as she had a strict "DNR" - do not resuscitate order. I remained with her for the entire time, Valerie, Oliver and Freddie spent time with her. Her dear friends Sibylla and David also were able to visit, along with Harry.
She died peacefully on January 30 in the afternoon, with me holding her hand.
She did not want any services; the cremation has already taken place.
There will be a small gathering in her honor to celebrate her life, in the apartment she had shared with Lou for 30 years.
She touched so many people with her compassion and grace that she will be remembered forever.

I have written about her before to you, Michael. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I was privileged to spent with your mother. She was so wise, bright, sweet, always thinking of others, and also had a wonderful sense of humor. We laughed together. I cannot tell you how terribly sorry I am she is gone, but so happy she did not suffer...

On behalf of Geoffrey, I want to say how sorry we were to hear of Annemarie's passing. She was very kind to Geoffrey and to other people - a wondeful lady. We will miss her.

Dear Michael,

I,m sorry to hear you lost both parents in such a short time.

Your Parents bought 3 paintings in the early sixties in Holland from my father
His first great customer and the start of an succesfull life as a painter

It took me a long time to find mr and Mrs Madison back.

I don't kmow if the paintings are still in your family if they're i'm surprised
and would like to have some pictures.

When I finally found the names on the internet i was impressed about the good work they both did really impressive.

Your mother contacted me shortly after louis past away i was surprised she took the time after her great lost of louis to write to me by mail.

So i wish you all the best and you can be proud of having such parents';they made the differance in the modern world
i hope my english isn't to bad to read

Best Regards Ibo Boekhoorn

Dear Michael,

There is so much I want to say, but I'm still in shock. Your mother played such a very important role in my life over so many years! I live only a few blocks away from her apartment. So I have no idea how the time got away from me. How is it possible that she could be gone a year already and I didn't know? I just mentioned her in my blog on Salon.com just a few weeks ago. I changed the title today to include her name. I will write more when I have had time to thing, to construct something fitting for such a wonderful, beautiful woman! Annemarie was everybody's mother! Thank you for sharing her with us!
